Butterflies are insects in the order Lepidoptera and known as 'winged insect scales', which also includes moths. Butterflies have the typical four-stage insect life cycle.
First, the adult butterfly lay its eggs on the food plant their larvae, known as caterpillars, it will feed.
Second, the caterpillars grow, sometimes very rapidly, and when fully developed, it will be pupate.
Third, pupal period, we can call it metamorphosis period.
Fourth, the metamorphosis complete, the pupal skin will splits, the adult insect climbs out, and after its wings have expanded and dried, it flies off.
Many butterflies often use of camouflage and mimicry to evade their predators. Some, like the monarch and the painted lady, migrate over long distances.
Butterflies generally live with a sucking nectar (nectar / pollen flower). However, some species like fluid sucked from the fruits that fall on the ground and rot, carrion, bird droppings and wet soil.
Butterflies and moths are known as insect pollinators of plants, which help the flowers develop into fruit. So for farmers and people in general, this butterfly is very useful to help the course of pollination of plants. To take advantage of the beauty of some kind, now people develop the butterfly farm or collecting it.
There are approximately 20,000 species of butterflies in the world and in Java and Bali, there are recorded more than 600 species of butterflies
